Happy Halloween!!!!

Welcome to "Pink Saturday" fellow pinkies. Our fabulous host as always is the lovely Beverly from "How Sweet the Sound". I haven't been around the pink posts for a while but just couldn't resist a halloween post. It feels so good to be back.

Halloween is my favorite holiday. All fun, no pressure. This year after 25 years of waiting the hubby built a little farmer's porch and I couldn't wait to get decorating for Halloween.

I love everything about the season. The colors, the smells, everything.

The kids get such a kick out of all the decorations.

I have found that photographing everything makes next years decorating go a lot easier. I can never remember where I put things the year before.

My little mantle graveyard gets more crowded every year.

It took a few years before I was able to find just the right witch.

These fabulous guys came from Michaels a few years back. I "LOVE THEM" they are some of my favorite things.

There are Halloween goodies all over the house but it would take all day to load it all in and I have lots to do before the big day. I wish you all the best of the season.

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY!!!

Our lovely hostess for this Easter special is Bev from "How Sweet the Sound". My smiling friend above is Ruby the dog with the Easter Bunny. I shot this photo at a local egg hunt and couldn't believe my luck when she gave me this big smile.

I have always wanted an Easter tree. I found this one a couple of years back at Pottery Barn and decorated it with hand painted wooden eggs, some with the grandkids name on them.

I just love Easter. The colors are so light and "Springy". Especially after the winter we've had. It's done nothing but rain for weeks. The temperature could reach the 80's this weekend.

Don't you just love Peeps? Found these a few years ago at CVS. Got them in all colors.

I couldn't believe my luck this year, Easter bottle trees!

These I made for each of my grandchildren for their first Easter. I can't show Dylan's because it lives with him in Hawaii.

And of course Easter wouldn't be complete without our resident Easter Princess. This photo is especially for my dear friend Karen.

Feel The Love

I have the most beautiful refrigerator in the world. My life has had its ups and downs the past few years. Some good, many very difficult, they all have been life changing. I like where I am now. I am content and a little too busy. Most importantly I am LOVED! All I need to do is walk by my refrigerator and I am reminded what is important, what really matters. My little nuggets; Dylan, Colby and Katelyn made this amazing art just for me. When I walk by I can feel the love. I have the most beautiful refrigerator in the world.

A Royal Injury ( AKA The Pink Eye )

Last Saturday I had a photo shoot at the "Paxton Winter Carnival" for the newspaper. I thought that it would be a lovely idea to bring Princess Kate along for some winter fun. Things were going perfectly until she walked into another group of sledders coming down the hill. Up she flew and came down on her face, breaking her glasses and messing up her cute little face!

Being the crazy little trooper she is, back up the hill she went.

By the next day her face had turned a royal shade of pink. Her mom and I were horrified and ready to run her to the emergency room. She thought it looked pretty, after all pink is her favorite color.

Kids are so amazing. Within less than a week all trace of her "boo boo" is almost gone. I would have been scarred for life. She wants to go again. I want to curl up on my sofa under a blanket and sleep till spring. It's much safer.

Welcome to Pink Saturday. Our lovely hostess is Bev from "How Sweet the Sound". Bev is under the weather this week with gall bladder issues so we send out our best wishes that she is back to normal soon.

The Sweater

About 30 years ago when my daughter was little my Aunt Bev made a sweater for her granddaughter, my cousin Carolyn's daughter. How I loved that sweater. Hers was blue but I always envisioned it in pink. I searched for that pattern for over 30 years. Then one day I found a site on the internet called "knit list". Within two days someone came up with the very Mary Maxim vintage pattern I had been searching for all those years. I took one look at the pattern and panicked. I tried to plead with my aunt to make it one more time but she very wisely told me to at least try it myself. This sweater and I have had many unpleasant conversations with many colorful but unreprintable words. When it was done I felt the most unbelievable sense of pride and accomplishment. Now I have an heirloom for my granddaughter that I made by myself. I will NEVER make this sweater again. My Aunt Bev is a very wise woman and I still love this sweater. And I was right, it is much prettier in pink.

Welcome to Pink Saturday.

As always the lovely Bev from "How Sweet the Sound" is our gracious hostess.

I must be honest with all my fellow Pinkies about my relationship with the color pink. For many years you would be hard pressed to find this color anywhere in my home. I am very much a rustic kind of gal surrounded by rich jewel tones and dark woods and primitive furniture. But the very day I found out that my next grandchild was to be a little girl I had an epiphany. I craved the PINK, it was all about the Pink and everything pastel and girlie. It was like I now had permission to get in touch with my girlie side again, and I have used that poor child to justify my new obsession with the Pink.

There is still no pink to be found in most of the house. That is until you enter the inner sanctum which is Kate's room. Next week I will explore this Pink domain in more detail but this week is about what I see every night before I go to bed. I always stop to give her one last kiss goodnight and make sure that she is still covered and warm.

Her cat Twilight is always draped beside her and keeping watch over her while she sleeps. They look so sweet together and it lets me end my day, no matter how chaotic, with a smile and a reminder that I am the luckiest Nana in the world.

Welcome to Pink Saturday. Bev from"How Sweet the Sound" is our lovely hostess.

This week we are to share one of our holiday traditions. I couldn't come up with a long standing family tradition so I am going to share some photos with Santa. You can call it our little tradition.

This was probably taken December 1955. Remember those wonderful department store Santas? We didn't need fancy displays. Just a chair and a cheap backdrop. We didn't care, it was Santa!

By the time my children sat on Santa's lap, we went to the MALL. Santa's chair was a little grander and he had an entourage.

Now it's the grandchildren sitting on Santa's lap and it has become a full blown production. There are dancing elves and Christmas trains. There's a professional camera crew to capture that precious moment to keep forever. This is a Hawaiin Santa. Notice his tan and creepy smile. No wonder my poor grandson was crying. This guy is kind of scary.

We have never been able to get Katelyn anywhere near Santa. You could promise her any Christmas gift in the world but she wasn't buying it. We ended up putting Grandpa in a Santa hat complete with beard to get her into the Santa spirit. She knew who it was and I ended up with my favorite of all Santa photos.

Until this year. This most amazing Santa won her over. It took him awhile but he reeled her in and now she is hooked on Santa. She checked out his beard and his hair and decided that he was the real deal.

We ended up having to pry her off his lap. Now she wants to visit him every day.

Now every year we pose in our Santa finest headgear and take a family photo.

Today's post is about our favorite ornament. I have so many favorites That it was impossible to pick just one. The above Santas are from my Nana's home and the roly poly was bought for my son's first Christmas in 1975.

Believe it or not but all eight reindeer and Santa Claus are squished into this Hallmark ornament from 1993. I have been collecting Hallmark Christmas ornaments since they first appeared in 1973. This one is my absolute favorite.

I am really getting into handmade nostalgic ornaments. This one I made for an online art group I belong to. The angel is very special to me. She looks just like my mom when she was very young.

This one was purchased at Vallaincourt Art in Sutton, Ma. and uses the same angel. I spent a lovely day with my wonderful friend Karen and got to see a perfomance of "The Night Before Christmas" performed by Charles Dicken's great, great grandson. It was a magical day.

This beautiful reindeer belong to my Grandpa and Nana and hung from their tree every Christmas . I am so lucky to have it for my tree.

The Charlie Brown Tree is new this year but has already claimed my heart. It brings back so many memories. Every decoration I own has a story and connects to the past. Thinking of the past helps to get through the present. A hope for a return to simpler times.

As I get older I find myself visiting past Holidays and remembering how simple everything seemed to be. These photos are from 1955.

There was a beautiful innocence about the world. Or maybe we were so sheltered from the world. This was my very first Christmas in 1954.

This bobble head Santa belonged to my Nana and every Christmas sat on a shelf in her kitchen. The felt Santa was usually near the television in her living room. The roly poly was bought for my son for his first Christmas in 1975. They are some of my favorite things.

How adorable is this? It's the Charlie Brown Tree. When I saw it at the store I immediately knew It had to come home with me.

I am a photographer for a local newspaper and I get to meet the most wonderful people. Last weekend my assignment was to photograph local artists participating in the annual "Art Ride". After a two year absence the very popular folk artist Diana Nylen returned.

These wonderful socks were designed and knitted by her mother Rosemary Chapman as a fund raiser for Breast Cancer research.

Celebrate Your Inner Princess

My granddaughter has turned four. What better way to celebrate four than with a very pink and very girly royal birthday party?

We added a little purple with a castle cake and lots of colorful decorations.

Halos were made for all the royal guests.

My little baby was a real princess on her birthday.

Apple Picking

This weekend we made our way to Clearview Farm for our yearly trip to pick apples and to pick out our Halloween pumpkins. This is my favorite time of the year. I love the colors and all the wonderful smells that are everywhere. Too bad it leads up to winter!

Well the kiddies are finally all back in school. Hopefully I will now have the time to get back to work in the studio and catch up on projects I've been sadly neglecting. We also closed the pool up for the winter. It's the most depressing day of the year for me. I hate to see the winter come knowing that we'll be trapped inside for months. I am definately not a winter person.

What a wonderful Xmas we had this year. Even though the power was unpredictable and kept going on and off , we made the best and had a lovely holiday. We even managed to get a photo of the kids with Santa ( aka grampa). Kate is terrified of Santa so we made sure that she knew it was grampa. Our yearly photo was crazy as always. We all miss our sweet Brady this Xmas. Kate tried her best to cheer Bruschi. The day would have been perfect if Ken, Erin and our awesome boy Dylan were here. Maybe next year.

My little Hawaiin coconut, Dylan is spending the summer with his dad, my son Kenneth, in Poulsbo, Washington. I sure do miss him like crazy! I don't get to see him much because most of the year he lives in Hawaii. Life is so short and time seems to slip away. If only, If only.....

Well, we are finally back in the pool. When we arrived home from Disney World back in March and found our swimming pool had collapsed it looked like it would be the summer without a pool. After a LOT of hard work we got the old pool replaced and our summer is saved! We still have a ton of yard work to do but at least the kids have something to keep them busy. With our luck we will get the last blde of grass in place as the first snowflake smacks us right in the kisser!

Wow how time flies. It's the end of June. Time to update. The kids were in the Bike and Doll Carraige Parade yesterday. Kate won first place for her doll carraige. Colby was a bit dissapointed not to win a ribbon this year, but he sure looked cool!

What a great Xmas. Colby had his first school Xmas pageant. Kate was an angel for our Xmas card. We were able to celebrate an early Xmas with family who flew in from the west coast. The kids were up at 5A.M. Xmas morning. Kate woke with a bad case of bed head. After all the gifts were open we posed for a photo in our new Santa hats.

Last Sunday the world lost one of it's most gifted artists. Dan Fogelberg's music has been a huge part of my life for over 35 years. He was an amazing story teller through his wonderful songs . His mello voice could transport you to a peaceful place far away from a crazy world. I can only imagine all the wonderful music that was yet to be. Heaven is a little brighter now that his star shines there.

My family is crazy about the Boston Red Sox. It doesn't matter that they live on separate coasts. Red Sox Nation carries on no matter where they settle.

My son Ken is in Seattle while the rest remain in Massachusetts. Both gransons are carrying on the Red Sox tradition.

At least they will know what it feels like to have won the World Series.

Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. It's even better now with grandchildren. Colby went as his all time fave Darth Vader ( he is posing with his buddy Tom). Kate was the cutest lady bug ever! It didn't take long for her to catch on to "trick or treat" and she scrambled after her brother for over an hour!
